Areas of Study

MA Filmmaking

Filmmaking is a collaborative process. To develop our students' unique artistry within the complex process, our students receive a full education in all the filmmaking craft areas on our two-year MA Filmmaking Programme. Students engage in all disciplines, learning to work with fellow students and staff to develop professional level skills. Students leave with a portfolio of directing, cinematography, editing, producing and sound credits on at least 10 films - and often more. Many of these films will tour renowned film festivals. In the past our students have won many prestigious awards including the Cannes Palme d’Or for Best Short Film.

MA Screenwriting

This one-year course focuses on the development of the individual screenwriter’s voice. By the end of this program, students will have completed a full-length feature film script. Throughout the year, students receive feedback and guidance from course tutors and industry professions, providing a superb, hands-on learning experience. To further develop their craft, screenwriting students can collaborate with filmmaking students to create a number of short films. This programme encourages writing as a continuous practice, to stimulate reflective and critical approaches and provides a historical background to film narrative, genres, and dramaturgy.
